30 Day Video Game Challenge: Day 7

Day 7: The most surprising game plot twist or ending
Dragon Age 2, end of Act 3, no question. I knew that the Mage Templar conflict would come to a head, but I had no idea what Anders was going to do. I was genuinely shocked and hurt. But still not enough to kill him. Never in a role-playing game, have I seen a companion do something like that to the main character. We have NPCs that turn on us, sure, but nothing like this.
Dragon Age 30 Day Challenge: Day 7

Day 7: Favorite Quest
Action-wise I love the Last Straw. The final battle with Meredith is amazing. Although beating the Archdemon took more strategy than Meredith, seeing the city guard and slave statues come to life was visually awesome. That quest is also just so heartbreaking. Anders blowing up the Chantry was such a twist and a betrayal. Although I forgive him every time, it was still quite a shock.
Humor-wise I love Aveline’s quest “The Long Road” always makes me crack up laughing. It’s not the most exciting, but it’s something different than the usual quest or anything I normally do in a video game.
As for Origins, I loved the “Arl of Redcliffe” and how it tied into the “Broken Circle.” It made the world seem that much more connected and real to me that I could go to the Circle of Magi to help Connor.
I also love “the Landsmeet.” We can come to some kind of conclusion for Loghain’s actions at Ostagar and it’s kind of the calm before the storm in terms of fighting the darkspawn. We also see more of Ferelden politics. Again, this quest really made the Thedas so much more real to me.

We are back to Mass Effect this week and I dedicate this Wednesday to Kaidan Alenko for Vader47 since she is awesome, a fellow BioWare lover, and one of my favorite twitter buddies. What I find most interesting about Kaidan is his past and his experience with BAaT (“Brain Camp”). Before hearing about his backstory I thought he was a little whiny and too conservative, but I am more sympathetic to him now and really look forward to seeing how his character has developed in ME3. I am also personally hoping to see a big confrontation between him and Garrus over my FemShep haha Happy Kaidan Wednesday!

Dragon Age 30 Day Challenge: Day 6
Day 6: Your Warden’s story
So this is tough because I have a few Wardens. I have played almost 300 hours of Origins… But I have like 2 main stories that I consider “cannon” for my world. Obviously, if you haven’t played Origins don’t read this post, it’s full of Spoilers. I don’t have the events of Awakening in here - I might do a post on that later :)
Aiyanna: Female Elf Mage
I’m not going to go into all of the choices I made in Origins because this post would be like 10 pages long haha, but Aiyanna’s personality was nice and only snarky some of the times. She brought along Alistair, Leliana, and Zevran for most of my quests. She only hooked up with Alistair, though she did flirt with Zevran for fun.
She was able to save Arl Eamon’s entire family and decided to show Jowan mercy. She obviously sided with the mages, even though she was fond of Cullen when she was in the Circle. She picked up Shale not long after this.
She sided with the Elves against the Werewolves, but ended up persuading Zathrian to take his own life to cure the werewolves.
She sided with Harrowmont against Bhelen and destroyed the Anvil of the Void.
At the Landsmeet, Aiyanna let Alistair kill Loghain and put Anora on the throne.
Aiyanna agreed to Morrigan’s offer, much to the chagrin of Alistair.
In the end, Aiyanna slays the archdemon and becomes the Hero of Ferelden. She and Alistair stay together rebuilding the wardens.
Armoura: Female Human Noble Rogue
Armoura’s story was pretty much the same as Aiyanna’s up until the Landsmeet. She is snarkier than Aiyanna, but not anymore aggressive. She flirted with both Alistair and Zevran until Alistair asked her to choose between them. She went with Alistair (of course) and at the Landsmeet put him on the throne and became his wife.
She also agreed to Morrigan’s offer.
In some of my other games I went with other people and chose different things, but I really like these two games the most.
30 Day Video Game Challenge: Day 6
Day 6: Favorite flash/internet/app game.
Well right now I am enjoying Dragon Age Legends. I don’t normally play Facebook games, but obviously since it’s Dragon Age I had to play this one.
My obsession with solitaire has been long known by my friends and family. I’ve actually had to take it off my phone before because I will just not sleep and play stupid solitaire until 5 am. It’s very soothing, relaxing, and mindless to me.
I also really like Fruit Ninja :)
Holy hot DAMN me too. Difficulty doesn't matter, get Area Reave, area shockwave, and charge - throw in some inferno ammo - I AM A GOD.
Yep that is my strategy as well :)

She is just too cute not to get a day dedicated to her! And I think on Mondays we all need a little bit of cute babbling (with a tiny side of blood magic ;)). I think one of my favorite things about Merrill is actually her friendship with Isabela. I love hearing their banter and how Isabela calls her “Kitten.” Enjoy Merrill Monday!
